Yay! Tiny Shop
There is a new shop in Ivanhoe Village that is set to take all your extra spending cash. Yay! Tiny Shop opened about a month ago right next to the Backhaus Bakery space on Orange Avenue. Owner Stacy Coon has made great use of her small retail shop (it’s only about 200 sq ft) and filled it to the brim with goods, that as her Instagram bio suggests, are #Thingsthatmakeyousayyay.
I noticed quickly that Stacy has stocked her shop with eye-catching items from all over the country; from well-known artists to local makers. I was very excited to see that she sells merchandise from Chris Uphues, who is the artist behind the new mural in College Park. From pins, books, jewelry, home goods, travel accessories, party goods, art prints and notebooks, Stacy’s shop has an impressive variety of options nestled nicely together. It also speaks to a wide age range of tastes, so whether you are shopping for yourself or for a gift, her selection is diverse and well-rounded.
I spoke briefly with Stacy about her past (she was a flight attendant at one point and that’s how she met her literal co-pilot in life, her husband) and she has now taken her merchandise buying skills from previous jobs and turned to the life of full-time retail. She is passionate about things that evoke a positive reaction, that are happy and colorful, and leave us with a good vibe in a world full of constant negativity. It’s very clear you get a rush of happiness when perusing her store. Definitely take your time as you shop, because even though the space is tiny, there are several nooks filled with goods you wont want to miss.
Her current hours are Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. You can use the street parking or the small lot across the street on Lake Ivanhoe.
